Join your colleagues for education, networking, and fun at the Sheraton Denver Tech Center. There are many changes affecting Colorado’s assisted living industry this year. The CALA Spring Conference promises to provide a great lineup of speakers and topics to prepare you for these changes.

This exciting kickoff program will feature CALA Board Members highlighting the value of membership in CALA.  They will focus on the Association's benefits and services as well as the Association's accomplishments this year.

ED/Owner Track:
Person Centered Tenant/Landlord Agreements
Speaker:  Aaron Evans, Esq., Evans Case, LLP
Aaron will cover all the points about Tenant/Landlord agreements for assisted living homes.  You will learn the ins and outs of the agreements so that they benefit you and your residents.

Management Track:
Crisis Management:  What to do when the Press shows up!
Speaker:  Carole Walker, Rocky Mountain Insurance Information Association
You have had an incident at your assisted living home.  The press shows up on your doorsteop to do a story for the nightly news.  What do you do?  How do you manage the press coverage? This program will go over the steps you need to follow to do the damage control for the incident and manage the publicity to your benefit.

Understanding Rule Making:  "Seeing Sausage Being Made"

Understanding the rule-making process is integral to managing the regulatory oversight created by the legislature.  It is a complex process and requires constant vigilance.  Discover how you can have a direct effect on any regulatory outcome.

Carmen will share how they make activity programs fit the smaller assisted living facilities.  We'll be talking about how you plan exciting activities, overcome challenges, and engage your residents AND staff.  How do you appeal to populations of various ages, abilities and interests?  Beside these topics, we'll discuss what the new "Resident Engagement" regulations from CDPHE are and what they mean for small ALRs.  Let your creativity flow!

This program will be an intense discussion of the new rules and regulations that the Assisted Living Advisory Committee will be working under in 2018.
