Parkinson's Disease:  An Overview for Caregivers

"Parkinson's now affects more than one million Americans, more than 17,000 in Colorado.  Parkinson’s can be diagnosed at any age.  Under the age of 60 is considered young onset. In this webinar we will learn how to recognize the symptoms and how to provide better care for those with Parkinson's.  You will learn tips and ideas and help with preventative strategies to promote safety and improve the lives of your residents who have the disease."

Our presenters are Cari Friedman and Lindsay Vassar



Cari Friedman, L.C.S.W. Patient and Family Services Director has been with the Parkinson Association of the Rockies since 1999. She provides education and resources for those affected with Parkinson's and their partners and families. She meets with them in their home when s/he is newly diagnosed with Parkinson's disease or has a change in his or her health status. The client is able to have questions answered throughout the course of the illness.


Lindsay Vassar is the Program Communications Director for the Parkinson Association of the Rockies. She joined the Parkinson Association in April 2011. Lindsay has a BA in Journalism with an emphasis in Public Relations from the University of Oklahoma. Her previous experience includes Program Coordinator at Life Quality Institute and Public Relations Coordinator and Graphic Designer at Allied Health Association.
